A study conducted by the National Safety Council reveals that 1 in 4 road accidents are attributed to driving while using cellphones. States now issue driving while distracted tickets to drivers who are caught using their phones while behind the wheel. Out of all the pileups in the road, about 1.2M accidents are caused by drivers that are distracted by cellphone use. The number could grow annually and more road accidents can occur if drivers do not limit their phone usage while driving.

According to the research study by the NSC, 26% of all car accidents are caused by drivers who are engrossed on their cellphones. About 5% of this statistic is actually attributed to texting while driving. The number is growing each year and texting while driving has already been banned in 41 states in the US. According to experts, this could be because there are a lot of people who still type their replies to messages rather than placing calls.

In the cellphone accessories industry, there is a growing demand for car phone mounts. This seems to be parallel with people wanting to limit their time on the phone while driving.
