Digital Trends - Telecommunications giant Verizon has announced it is teaming up with Coinstar’s Redbox DVD kiosk service to launch a new Internet-based streaming video service in the second half of the year. The move highlights the increasing importance of streaming video operations in the mainstream media marketplace, and at first glance a team-up between Verizon and Redbox would seem to have a lot going for it: both are widely recognized brands with strong customer bases, both are leaders in their industries, and they both have cash to sink into launching a major new service.

Digital Trends - Responding to strong government pressure to remove content offensive to Indian politicians and religious groups, Google India has removed an unspecified number of sites and images from Google services in the country (reportedly including Blogger and YouTube) in response to an ongoing court case. The action follows weeks of pressure by the Indian government against nearly two dozen Internet companies, including Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Facebook—according to the Press Trust of India, the firms now have until March 1 to present their plans to a New Delhi court for policing objectionable content on their services.

Mashable - Someone had a sudden impact on Chrysler's "Clint Eastwood" Super Bowl spot's availability on YouTube Sunday night.
Chrysler is investigating why the two-minute ad, which features the actor/director declaring this moment to be America's "halftime," got taken down, a rep told Mashable. At the time of this writing, the ad was back up on Chrysler's YouTube channel.
