There have also been cases of stolen credit cards being used which has led the company to consider implementing stricter measures. Stricter measures will mean that there may be a delay in shipping, buyers will have to be verified details over the phone and a photo ID copy will have to be provided. There are a number of countries which are of particular concern and so the company may decide to implement the measures for buyers in those countries only.
Fraudulent purchases, stolen identities and even hacked PayPal accounts are just some of the issues that online sellers have to deal with. Even big name sellers like eBay, Amazon, and various others have to deal with similar issues and so over the years have developed stricter measures. Many of the big name American stores do not sell internationally. There are many countries and territories which have been charted out as being red zones, which means that people in those places cannot buy. So, Stunning Gadgets may have to consider similar measures since fraud and charge backs can end up costing businesses millions of dollars in losses in this solar power bank niche.
"I think that security is every business's concern. Over the years, we have not had to deal with as many charge back issues as we have now. The reason revealed by our investigations leads us to believe that international buyers try to game the system. As a matter of fact, 89% of charge backs came from people that made purchases from the EU and Asia. We do not want to name these countries, but we have decided to temporarily not sell to people in those countries. In the mean while we will implement stricter verification methods. We are considering partnering with an expert solutions provider which should help us in a big way." said the chief financial officer for Stunning Gadgets "We are closely monitoring all sales, people that go for a chargeback may also be penalized and we may consider legal action against them too."
Stunning Gadgets has sold over two million dollars worth of solar gadgets, but the company has said that fraud detection will have to be improved or losses will become unbearable. The company's top management is now working on ways to make it very difficult for people to use stolen credit cards to make purchases.
